Michael Hutchence hologram could tour with INXS

The late Michael Hutchence could return to the stage alongside his band INXS as a hologram.

The Australian band has reportedly been offered the use of a hologram of Hutchence when they tour.

INXS's manager Chris Murphy said the offer has been made in the past and it's something they have considered.

"That (offer) comes up nearly every week," Murphy told News Limited.

"I don't think anything like that is out of the question. You can't take any modern technology out of the question, including whether a hologram of Michael could happen. Something like that is not out of the question one day.''

INXS member Andrew Farris said having a hologram image of Hutchence, who died in 1997, on stage would be acceptable if it was done properly.

The hologram concept was used this year at the US music festival Coachella when slain rapper 2Pac appeared on stage with Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre.

INXS are recording a new album with Irish singer/songwriter Ciarin Gribbin. Their search for a new singer was documented in the 2005 reality show Rock Star: INXS.

A 25th anniversary of their million-selling album Kick, which is being released on Friday, contains unreleased audio and video footage of Hutchence.

INXS will tour Australia in October and November with Matchbox Twenty.
