Melania Trump threatens to sue YouTuber for autism video

Lawyers for the future First Lady Melania Trump want a video suggesting her son has autism be removed from YouTube.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Mrs Trump is threatening YouTuber James Hunter with a lawsuit after he posted a seven-minute long video arguing that Barron Trump should not be bullied.

The video perpetuates that the 10-year-old is being bullied for being autistic, and uses quotes and footage from the campaign trail as evidence of his condition.

"A video was posted at YouTube recently speculating that Barron might be autistic. He is not," lawyer Charles Harder told the Hollywood Reporter. "The video includes the hashtag 'StopTheBullying' but yet the video itself is bullying by making false statements and speculation about a 10-year old boy for the purpose of harassing him and his parents. The online bullying of children, including Barron Trump, should end now."

Mrs Trump wants the video taken down and the user to apologise.

The video came to attention after Rosie O'Donnell shared it on her Twitter account, writing "Barron Trump Autistic? if so - what an amazing opportunity to bring attention to the AUTISM epidemic".

O'Donnell late apologised for suggesting the false claims.

The video is one of only two on James Hunter's account. The other is a clip of Barron clapping at the Republican National Convention. His first video has received over 3 million views since it was first posted on November 11.

Mrs Trump has previously stated that she wants to combat cyber bullying in her role as First Lady, which earned her a deal of criticism due to her husband's numerous abusive tweets.
