Police investigating an alleged assault made by
Mel Gibson
on a man in a Los Angeles nightclub have reportedly dismissed a battery claim, and say the actor will face no criminal charges.
Gibson, who was
at the VIP section of LA's Playhouse on Thursday, reportedly reacted in fury when a reporter tried to snap a photo of them together.
Celebrity news website Hollyscoop.com reports that a
Life & Style
magazine reporter, posing as a fan, tried to take photos of the couple, despite repeated warnings from Gibson's security team to back off.
Gibson's burly beefcakes eventually intervened, taking the reporter's camera and deleting the pictures she'd taken. But the relentless reporter wasn't about to take no for an answer. She allegedly sent her mate over, armed with a camera, to the VIP area to snap Gibson and his baby mamma.
And that's when things reportedly turned hostile.
The snapper alleges that Gibson stepped in and attacked him, tearing his shirt in the process. The snapper then quickly left the building and raced to press charges against the actor, while Gibson left shortly after.

Battery claim
A law enforcement snitch tells TMZ that the shutterbug who filed the battery claim against Gibson
, and that no criminal charges will be pursued.
The snitch says it's a civil matter, and they don't expect to interview Gibson, let alone charge him, over the alleged attack.
A report on the website claims that after cops interviewed the snapper, they also determined it would have been impossible for Gibson to make contact with him - the star was sitting snugly in a private booth at the time, and couldn't have grabbed the guy's shirt.
The guy was also asked to back off three times, according to TMZ, but he persisted.
A witness backs up the same story, adding that no-one saw his shirt ripped while he was inside the club, and that he was informed by security that there was no photography allowed in the club.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement: "On Thursday, July 30th about 1:20 this morning a victim came into the Hollywood Division claiming that he had been pushed by actor Mel Gibson when he attempted to take his picture inside the Playhouse Nightclub at 6506 Hollywood Blvd."
And although several websites have posted a photo of the 'victim'
, police say he was not injured.
"He stated he was not injured. In an initial investigation detectives did interview witnesses at the nightclub who disputed the victims account," the statement continued. "The investigation is ongoing."
Quickly followed by a statement by a rep for the Playhouse, which says, "a minor incidence occurred between a persistent photographer and Mr. Gibson's party", but that "no one was injured."
Jacko: The kid is his son
The kid widely believed to be Michael Jackson's son,
Omer Bhatti
, is in fact, according to patriarch
Joe Jackson
, the late singer's love child.
In an exclusive interview on U.S. TV, Jackson confirms that Bhatti, the young man who
sat with the Jacksons at the singer's memorial
, is his son.
Quizzed in the interview about the love child speculation, he says: "I knew that he had another son. Yes I did. He looks like a Jackson, he acts like a Jackson, he can dance like a Jackson," referring to Bhatti.
Last week Jackson's brother
Jermaine
commented on the speculation as well, saying:
“If Omer’s his son, he’s his son. We won’t deny it. We are going to give him the same love and care that we give Prince and Paris and Blanket. I can’t clearly say if he is Michael’s but I saw this kid around him.”
Question is, was Bhatti in on papa Joe's revelation? He's to date
he's Jacko's son.
