Meat Loaf was spitting blood as he sang on stage in Australia.
The Bat Out Of Hell hitmaker had endured three vocal cord surgeries when he suddenly found himself in agony again on stage, but he powered through, and was amazed that he got nothing but "hostility" from fans for his efforts.
He explained: "I gave those people everything I had and more. I was warming up, and it was like you're slicing a vegetable and you cut your finger really bad and it's bleeding everywhere, that's how blood was coming out of my throat. It was just running out of my throat."
He added: "When you're 26, your voice has a certain timbre. When you're 68, your voice no longer has that timbre ... Adele cancelled a tour with a haemorrhaging vocal cord, I did a tour in Australia with a haemorrhaging vocal cord. I was spitting blood every night on stage. And I've got nothing but grief and major hostility."
Now the Texan singer's voice is back to normal he's been working on his upcoming LP - Original Album Classics - slated for release this autumn and promised it's "pretty wild".
