KEY POINTS:
Rocker Meat Loaf has postponed his February Australian tour after developing a cyst on his vocal cords. The 60-year-old has been diagnosed with an inter-vocal cord cyst, and will undergo four to six weeks of vocal therapy before doctors decide whether he needs surgery, according to a statement on his website.
"The Promoters of the Meat Loaf - The Three Bats Tour, scheduled for February 2008, regret to announce that the tour has been rescheduled for later in 2008," the rocker's Australian promoters, KMW Productions, said in a release.
The Bat Out of Hell singer has scrapped several British dates on the Three Bats tour since last week, when he walked off stage in the northern English city of Newcastle.
Meat Loaf said in a statement that he would return to the stage when his health was better.
"It really breaks my heart not to be able to perform these shows," he said.
