Burfoot is paired with 36-year-old Ryan Donnelly on the show, and the pair have continued to navigate a complicated on-screen relationship after an initially awkward wedding where Donnelly dropped Burfoot to the floor during their first dance.
Donnelly, a self-described “warrior” type, has increasingly butted heads with his new bride on the show, with the pair seen to be arguing about each other’s habits and their ideal attributes for a partner.
Burfoot is also shown listing her various achievements and accolades at multiple points during the show, including that she was “Miss New Zealand,” (According to Chattr, she was Miss New Zealand for the Miss Yacht International competition) was a model and yoga instructor, and held various degrees.
“To start with — I love all of humanity we are all equal. I have a thing for men with high EQ/IQ yes, not interested in looks at all (we are all gonna be wrinkly in our 50s anywho),” the post reads.
“I love all dogs, am deeply insecure (hence why I need constant compliments, but, hey, don’t we all deserve that?!?!), am ready to settle down and have babies”.
This appeared to be an allusion to the fact Burfoot was seen on-camera constantly asking Donnelly to support her and take the lead when it came to romantic actions and behaviours.
Burfoot asserted she was “fully in this for a life partner,” while saying she would “take it seriously with heaps of fun, laughter and playing it up for the camera (a tiny bit)”.
At the end of the post, she revealed she was “currently in a relationship with a person who was exactly what I asked for,” not revealing who this person was or if it was, in fact, Donnelly.
According to Daily Mail executive producers Alex Spurway and John Walsh slammed contestants who used the excuse of “blaming the edit” to explain their actions on the show.
“I don’t think there’s such a thing as a bad edit, just bad behaviour,” Spurway said.
“People come into Mafs flawed — we’re all flawed as human beings. And we’re never going to shy away from those flaws. We show the good, the bad, and the ugly".
