The Grammy award-winning singer is no stranger to the world-renowned Vegas strip, having held residency at Caesars Palace's the Colosseum in recent years.
Despite admitting she didn't know enough about the attack, Carey shared her condolences to all who were affected.
She began: 'I mean it is what everyone's gut reaction is ... I pray for the victims, have they caught the shooter?
"Wow, that's awful. Again I pray for the victims and hope all these can stop as soon as possible. You know I have spent a lot of time in Vegas and this type of thing anywhere happening anywhere is a huge tragedy.
"I continue to pray for the victims. I hope we have an end to this as soon as possible."
She added: "It's terrible because people just going out to listen to music, really they're out for the night and something like this happens, it's shocking."
Although sincere in her condolences, viewers of the popular ITV morning stalwart took to Twitter to share how surreal the moment was as she lay glamorously across her chair.
As they headed to a break, Piers openly discussed that they would talk to Carey in the interim about continuing their interview in light of the events and made the decision to postpone their chat to a more appropriate time.
Following the interview, Morgan took to social media to explain that Carey's reps knew that they would ask her about the horrific attack.
