This was one of Herald Entertainment's most read stories in 2019.
Married At First Sight star Jessika Power is off the market — again — and it's with a face familiar to fans of the reality show.
An excited Power told news.com.au that she had been dating MAFS season four star Nick Furphy for two weeks after their friendship turned romantic.
The reality TV stars have been speaking for two months after meeting through their dentist in Melbourne and then going on a series of dates.
"It just sort of went from me joking going, 'Oh it would just be great to make it official now,' to him saying, 'We're dating' … it's just one of those things that naturally fell into place," she said.
Power was now travelling to Melbourne from the Gold Coast to spend time with him, with the travel also coinciding with work she had in the city, news.com.au reports.
But the reality TV was keen to take their relationship one step at a time and not make the same mistake she did with ex Dan Webb by moving from Perth to Queensland to be with him.
"The thing I love about (Nick) the most is that he's just straight to the point; he doesn't mix his words get involved in everyone's drama, but he's also in this little media world that I'm in as well, so he knows the pressure I can be under," she said.
"He's a little bit older so the prospect of children and settling down is something he does want in the very long run future — this is very fresh — that will be down the track."
Furphy was "married" to twin Sharon Marsh on the show, with the couple breaking up after filming ended.
Power's time on MAFS was considerably more controversial, with the reality star starting a relationship with Webb behind her TV spouse Mick Gould's back.
Webb and Power broke up just days after the MAFS finale aired on TV after fighting through a live interview on Talking Married.
After months of not speaking, Power and Webb patched things up over a phone call this week and are now on friendly terms, with the reality star blaming outside pressures for things not working out between them.
"Dan was very distracted, Dan had a lot going on outside of the relationship with his court case and stuff and I now can understand that," she said.
"I don't really have much bitter things to say about Dan, Dan was just not ready for a relationship."
Power also spilled on the drama surrounding her and Ines Basic's appearance at the Logies, revealing the pair had decided to attend after a friend bought tickets to the red carpet standing area.
"I just said to Ines, 'Oh this is going to be a s**tshow if we go down there, it's going to be like we crashed the Logies,' and then we just had a few more drinks and thought you know what, screw it!"
Their impromptu appearance at the Logies proved a hit with attendees with Power telling news.com.au: "We got bombarded, people were just so happy to see us, it was crazy!
"We got mobbed, people wanted to buy us champagne, people wanted to take photos.
"The MAFS people came out of the Logies and people didn't even notice that they were walking past because they were so busy taking photos of us."
Basic and Power's appearance also reportedly saw them get into a verbal argument with co-star and one-time BFF Martha Kalifatidis in the casino lobby.
Power insists she didn't snub Kalifatidis as reports have suggested and instead had been getting mobbed by people and simply hadn't heard her MAFS co-star say hello to her.
"The whole Martha thing, I was surrounded by like 20 people … I didn't see her so then she said hello and I said hi," she said.
"There is something that happened between her and Ines that I'm not allowed to comment on, I've been asked not to speak on behalf of Ines.
"(But) if it was me that it had happened to I would of reacted the way Ines has reacted as well."
Despite things between them being on shaky ground Power backed Kalifatidis in her ongoing feud with Sunrise after she was accused of "elbowing" breakfast host David Koch on the red carpet.
"Martha doesn't really make s**t up," Power said.
"Martha's not desperate for attention in that way, and also she's trying to rebrand herself and that's a controversial thing … Martha just wouldn't want that type of publicity, I genuinely don't think she did elbow him."
