UPDATED: Madonna
and
Guy Ritchie
's acrimonious divorce has taken another nosedive, with news that the director has
rejected a £20 million settlement
from his soon-to-be ex missus.
The warring couple - who announced their divorce two weeks ago - are said to be "no closer" to reaching a settlement, with neither party willing to back down.
Madonna's biographer
J Randy Taraborrelli
, tells
Hello!
magazine the pair "are at loggerheads".
He said: "There was a great deal of haggling about this matter last week, with Madonna upping the amount of Guy's settlement to more than
£20million
in hopes that he would acquiesce."
But Ritchie has reportedly flatly rejected her offer.
The other main bone of contention between the Ritchies is their children and where they will live.
Madonna, 50, wants Rocco, Lourdes and her adopted son David to live with her in New York. But Ritchie, 40, wants the children to be educated in London.
"They are not even speaking to each other. They communicate only through lawyers," Taraborrelli adds.
Another source adds, "I do think it's going to get nasty. He and Madonna are very angry now, no doubt about it, but they are willing to put that aside for their children.
"But I do think that if one sees the other linked up with a new partner so soon, it will make everything a lot more complicated for everyone involved."
Kabbalah brouhaha
News of Ritchie's settlement refusal comes hot on the heels of the revelation that Madonna is heading for a major fallout with her Kabbalah leaders, who are reportedly demanding a swift out of court divorce settlement.
So what's their beef? Rabbi Berg, the head honcho at Kabbalah towers, is reportedly furious over the ongoing public mudslinging between its two star pupils and the damage it'll do to its image.
The MailOnline claims that Berg has given Madonna a 24-hour deadline to come up with a plan.
Madonna meltdown
The demand by Berg is the least of Madonna's worries. Several news reports claim that Madge is heading for a breakdown as she struggles to cope during her split.
Oddest of all is the claim that she's instructed her assistant to gather all the gifts she received from Ritchie - so she can bury them.
A snitch close to the singer says pals are worried she's in "full meltdown mode."
"In recent years she's really relied on her Kabbalah advisors, but more for big decisions. She's barely functioning without a consult at this point," says the snitch.
What the Butler saw
Tongues are wagging that growly actor
Gerard Butler
and
Jennifer Aniston
are a hot item.
The two were spotted getting cozy in Los Angeles last week, according to the
New York Post
.
A snitch said, "They were very affectionate to each other. There was another man at the table, but he looked like he was a chaperon - or just there to stop tongues wagging. They basically ignored him."
That gossip morsel obviously requires you to suspend your disbelief to a level of nose-bleeding proportions.
Remember that Aniston was also supposedly 'pregnant' last week, as claimed by a certain Aussie mag. Mind you, she is supposedly desperate to breed and isn't afraid to ask. But, seriously, John Mayer as the papa? Maybe not. Or *insert obvious gag here* maybe the Butler did it.

Her prerogative
Lindsay Lohan
has a revolving door on her closet.
Despite her
that she's in a relationship with DJ galpal
Samantha Ronson
, the starlet is now insisting that she still loves men.
A snitch tells Nydailynews.com: "She has been telling everyone over and over that she’s still into guys. She keeps saying if anything went wrong with Sam she would date a guy next. She even flirts with guys when they go out."

Britney Spears
' father has been granted

Jamie Spears
was given full control of the singer's affairs way back in February.
Brit Brit's attorney said: "I've met several times with [Britney] and she requested that I not object to the permanent conservatorship."
Joaquin Phoenix quits acting career
Is
Gladiator
actor
Joaquin Phoenix
terribly vexed over his acting career? Seems so. The star recently told
E!
that his latest film will be his last - saying he now wants to focus on his music, apparently.
"I want to take this opportunity to give you an exclusive...I've been through that. I've done it," he said.
He's out
Kerry Katona
's
has now become, rightly or wrongly, the stuff of YouTube legend.
You'll recall that Katona appeared on British TV in a hell of a state recently and slurred her way through an interview.
News just in says that Katona has just fired her PR guru, Max Clifford, after he gave a candid interview to goss mag
Heat
expressing concern about her drinking, and her "controlling" husband.
