"It was like something out of a movie," said Joel Madden.
"The chances of us getting a record deal, oh man, it was really, really slim," added brother Benji.

Joel replied: "We live in times when, more than ever, you can get your music out. Get educated, figure it out and do your own thing. There's no golden ticket, the work never ends."
"If you're making great music it will always find it's way," added Benji.

As for their new sound - ditching their former punk pop banner Good Charlotte and rebranding as The Madden Brothers this year - Cait asked how the band's demographic has changed now?
"The Madden Brothers is a little broader than Good Charlotte. The whole family can put the record on."
