The distinctive Senegalese voice of Baaba Maal has been added to the line up for Womad in March.
A superstar in his native West African home country, he has been releasing albums since 1988 and has played concerts as diverse as the BBC Proms at London's Royal Albert Hall through to Glastonbury.
He will perform twice during the three-day festival which is being held from March 16-18 at New Plymouth's Bowl of Brooklands.
Meanwhile, legendary soul-funketeers Earth Wind & Fire and classic blues singer/songwriter Keb Mo will play in Tauranga on April 8 as part of the 50th birthday celebrations of the National Jazz Festival.
Formed in 1969, and touring and releasing albums consistently ever since, Earth Wind & Fire's blend of R&B, funk and soul, especially from their 70s heyday, has been hugely influential on everything from hip-hop to modern-day soul.
