British pop favourites Leo Sayer and Lulu have announced they will be heading to New Zealand for their first tour together, performing one show only at the Civic Theatre in Auckland on Sunday, June 26.
Best known for her performance of the theme tune for To Sir With Love, singer and TV star Lulu has remained well loved by British audiences since the 1960s, as much for her effervescent on-screen personality as for songs like The Boat That I Row and Let's Pretend, and her ongoing involvement with the popular Eurovision Song Contest.
Sayer has also remained a strong live presence since the 70s, having sold more than 80 million albums on the back of hits like You Make Me Feel Like Dancing (a Grammy winner for best rhythm and blues song) and the ballad, When I Need You.
The pair met after promoters suggested they might make a good match, and Lulu went to see Sayer perform in London last year.
She ended up joining him on stage that night, and they hit it off, so they decided to make a tour of it.
