It was the middle of the day in the centre of the country's biggest city - but Big Wednesday Lotto presenter Sonia Gray's union with partner Simon Chesterman on Friday was no public event.
Gray and Chesterman enjoyed what the Herald on Sunday understands was a very unconventional "wedding" at the historic St Matthew's in the City Anglican church in Auckland's Hobson St.
One attendee told the newspaper the pair had a civil union performed, rather than a wedding, but Gray, who has signed a deal with a women's magazine, would not confirm that last night.
Magazine staff surrounded her with dark umbrellas to usher her into the church and security made sure prying eyes could not see the beautiful presenter's wedding gown.
Gray gave birth to twins in 2009 in dramatic circumstances - she suffered severe haemorrhaging.
