Lorde has taken it transtasman, with her album Pure Heroine topping the Australian iTunes charts.
The much-anticipated debut album was released on Friday.
Lorde - real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor - told Kim Hill on Radio New Zealand yesterday that her stage name was a "cosmetic choice" because she liked the way it looked and sounded.
She also revealed her cover version of Tears for Fears hit Everybody Wants to Rule the World will be on the latest Hunger Games movie's official soundtrack, alongside Coldplay, The Lumineers and Of Monsters and Men.
Lorde is currently touring the United States.
