A free concert featuring Kiwi pop princess Lorde could be the first of many a new internet radio venture may put on.
The 16-year-old starlet will perform a free show at Vector Arena for 5000 fans who have signed up to iHeart Radio, a free digital radio service that allows users to select what they listen to.
The Radio Network boss Jane Hastings said there had been an overwhelming response, with thousands registering for the new service.
"We do see this concert as the beginning of something we will be exploring in the future."
Hastings said the September 7 concert had been planned some time ago to coincide with the launch of iHeart. Since then, Lorde has hit No. 1 on the US' alternative Billboard chart, headlined a major Australian concert and earned celebrity endorsements from Perez Hilton.
