Lorde set to shine with first CD, film

New Zealand singer Lorde looks to continue her reign with the release of her debut album and featuring in one of this year's most anticipated movies.

She celebrated the release of her debut album Pure Heroine yesterday.

It was also revealed she will be singing on the track of the second part of The Hunger Games trilogy: Catching Fire.

Lorde will sing a cover - Everybody Wants To Rule The World - by 80s English band, Tears for Fears.

She will join top artists on the track, including The Lumineers, Coldplay, Christina Aguilera and Patti Smith.

Interest in the 16-year-old, who grew up on Auckland's North Shore as Ella Yelich-O'Connor, continues to grow rapidly; with a fan base stretching from here to the United States.

The release of her first album has brought on a new flurry of excitement for fans in New Zealand and abroad.

Leading up to the release yesterday, lyrics from her tracks were strategically "leaked" around the country.

They popped up outside record stores on Auckland's Queen St, on the side of bus stops and even as artwork at the Auckland Art Gallery.

Those who caught particular Auckland buses might have noticed the words for her debut hit Royals scrawled on the ceiling.
