Looks like The Game is flagging this month's 'fake' Auckland show

Local hip-hop fans thought they might be in for a rare sight later this month with The Game scheduled to perform in Auckland.

The Compton gangster rapper has been a wayward New Zealand visitor, appearing at just one of four scheduled shows here.

But hopes were high he'd show up for his Australasian tour, which included five Australian shows and a performance at Auckland's Logan Campbell Centre on September 25.

It was billed as The Game's final tour, "the last chance for fans to see the rapper in his full glory". He was set to release one last album, Westside Story, in conjunction with the tour.

But a recent Facebook post by The Game - real name, Jayceon Terrell Taylor - suggests he won't be coming after all.

The 37-year-old behind songs like This Is How We Do and Hate It Or Love It, called the tour "fake" and said he wasn't scheduled to be here until next year.

He also disputed the claim that it was his last tour, and used the hashtag "#JankyPromoter".

Promoters Tour Squad quickly hit back in their own Facebook post, saying they were "working fast and hard at getting to the bottom of the post".

"Our only priority has been, and still is, to put on a great tour and bring The Game to Australia and New Zealand once and for all," the promoters wrote.

The Game's tour history in New Zealand has been sketchy, with no-shows at Roc the Bloc in 2009 and a solo show in 2013, and again going AWOL for last year's Raggamuffin festival.

He did show up for a show at Spark Arena in 2012, but spent much of his time on stage "scowling, berating the crowd and massaging his own ego by boasting about his achievements".

A Herald critic wrote: "At times, the man born Jayceon Taylor downed most of a bottle of spirits, taunted a little person who was dancing on stage, swore at members of his entourage , groped female fans and told the crowd off for talking during a Nate Dogg memorial."

Rap fans shouldn't stress too much, with shows by Migos, Future, The Weeknd, Mac Miller, GZA, J Cole and Bryson Tiller scheduled here before Christmas.
