KEY POINTS:
The New Zealander who became the face of cyberspace last year has won a film role alongside Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan, according to various websites.
Jessica Rose, who grew up in Mt Maunganui but became better known as YouTube's Lonelygirl15, is understood to be filming I Know Who Killed Me.
A number of photos of Rose and Lohan on the film's set have cropped up on celebrity and movie gossip websites.
One of those - worstpreview.com - carries the story and images of the pair together.
An Internet Movie Database profile for the movie said the script revolved around Lohan's character, "a young woman [who] appears to suffer from dual personalities after surviving a brutal kidnapping".
It said the movie, which is currently being filmed, was a thriller and Rose would play a character called Marcia.
Rose shot to stardom after she appeared as the home-schooled teenager "Bree" in a series of video blogs, posted on YouTube under the alias Lonelygirl15.
Bree was initially portrayed as being a real person, and vented on topics such as her life in a small town, boy dilemmas and her troubled relationship with her parents.
But thanks to a group of web sleuths, she was eventually outed as a phoney; Bree was in fact the creation of two Californian film-makers.
Nonetheless, Lonelygirl15's YouTube channel remains the most subscribed of all time, with new clips added every few days.
Rose's role in I Know Who Killed Me will be her first major film appearance.
It is understood she has also been given the starring role in an upcoming film called Perfect Sport.
