Logies: Peter Helliar, Kat Stewart mock Amber Sherlock's 'Jacketgate'

It was only a matter of time before Amber Sherlock's meltdown about a white top was parodied at the 59th Annual TV Week Logies.

And two hours and ten minutes into the ceremony, comedian Peter Helliar and Offspring star Kat Stewart delivered.

The Channel Nine newsreader managed to skip a mention in Dave Hughes' harsh opening monologue and no doubt began to relax. Then Helliar strutted onto the stage in a fuchsia suit. The eye-popping ensemble matched the frock of his fellow presenter, Stewart, who entered from the opposite side of the stage.

Immediately, everyone knew where this bit was going. We knew. The A-list crowd knew. And Amber knew.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, you need to change, can we get wardrobe, can we get wardrobe, I asked you two hours ago, I asked you specifically ..." Helliar said, interrupting Stewart. "You need to put a jacket on."

Stewart's response was familiar: "I've been flat out, I haven't had time," she said, trying to calm her colleague.

The bit then descended into a word-for-word parody of the leaked moment between Sherlock and reporter Julie Snook.

Helliar: "I told you two and a half hours ago we can't both wear fuchsia, it looks like we are trying to land aircraft."

Stewart: "If it's an issue ..."

Helliar: "It is an issue! There is something on a hook. Something about a hook?"

Stewart: "Honestly this isn't the only thing I'm doing today."

Helliar: "What else are you doing today?"

Stewart: "OK, this is the only thing I'm doing today."

Eventually, a stagehand brought out a bright striped poncho.

"Put it on, we can do it again and that will look nice," he told her. "I'm nominated for Gold Logie, Kat."

She retaliated: "But you're not going to win!"

Stewart lost the fight, putting on the poncho and starting the segment all over again.

Unlike the hashtag that started trending in support for Julie Snook, we don't think #PutYourPonchosOnForKat will catch on.
