KEY POINTS:
Despite having no new film or album to promote, Lindsay Lohan has appeared in an extensive photo shoot for New York Magazine, recreating images from screen icon Marilyn Monroe's last photo shoot.
Lohan appears partially nude in several of the photos taken by Bert Stern, the photographer who took the famous series of photos of Monroe for Vogue magazine in 1962.
Despite the revealing nature of the pictures, Lohan says she was not apprehensive about doing the shoot.
"I didn't have to put much thought into it. I mean, Bert Stern? Doing a Marilyn shoot? When is that ever going to come up? It's really an honor," she told the magazine in the article accompanying the photo spread.
"I was comfortable with it," she says of the nudity, but reveals she did do '250 crunches' the night before the shoot.
Lohan talks of Monroe's death as 'tragic', before drawing parallels to the recent death of actor Heath Ledger.
"You know, it's also tragic what just recently happened to someone else", referring to Ledger.
"They are both prime examples of what this industry can do to someone."
