Yet Lindsay's "heroic actions" ended in disaster as she went to reach the youngster's arm off-camera and his guardian started shouting at her.
The woman then appeared to push the actress over, leaving the Disney star crying in shock on the side of the road.
Lindsay then turned the camera on herself, as she seemingly clutched her face in pain, and she struggled to string a sentence together in between tears as she continued: "I'm like, in shock right now. I'm just so scared... I thought, literally... I don't think I can ever change."
MailOnline has contacted Lindsay's representative for comment. There is no evidence to suggest Lindsay was trying to kidnap the child.
The scenes have sparked concern amongst her fans who took to Twitter to share their worries over the actress and even accuse her of trying to "kidnap" the child.
One person said: "WTF is going on with Lindsay Lohan? Sis went live and recorded herself attempting to steal these homeless people's kids! #STLA #childtrafficking #LindsayLohan."
A different account put: "What in the good hell is @lindsaylohan doing in this video? Who does she think she is- a child welfare officer? GTFO #hotmess #sendhelp #thoseaccentsthough."
Lindsay's outing came as she continues her recent career comeback with work on her Lohan Beach House resort.
The new venture came after she proceeded to slam sexual assault accusers in a recent interview with The Times earlier this year, claiming many of them are simply speaking out for "attention".
Addressing the #MeToo movement in Hollywood, Lindsay slammed those who did not report their experiences to the police, and make it into a "real thing".
She said: "I'm going to really hate myself for saying this, but I think by women speaking against all these things, it makes them look weak when they are very strong women.
"You have these girls who come out, who don't even know who they are, who do it for the attention. That is taking away from the fact that it happened."
