KEY POINTS:
Actress Lindsay Lohan is said to be "doing great" since she checked in to rehab last month, her mother says.
Lindsay's mother, Dina Lohan, spoke to People magazine in New york on Monday and says her daughter is making good progress.
"I talk to her every day. She's going to do the Promises' extended care program," her mother comments.
According to the Promises' website, he extended program is designed to help people "make the transition from residential alcohol or drug rehab treatment back into their community." Treatment is said to include a 12-step program and group therapy.
Although Lohan checked into the Wonderland Center in West Hollywood in January for rehabilitation, her partying ways meant that she only managed to stay for a month at the facility.
However, Lindsay later checked in to the Promises treatment center in Malibu on May 28.
Dina also said that the family will head west for Lindsay's 21st birthday on July 2. It is unclear where the celebration will be held, as Lindsay is said to have cancelled a previously scheduled party in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile Dina and Lindsay's father Michael are fighting in a New York court over visitation rights for their younger children.
They have three other children: Michael, 19, Ali, 13, and Dakota, 10.
Michael Lohan was released from prison in March after serving nearly two years for attempted assault and driving while intoxicated.
