KEY POINTS:
It has been a while since Christina Applegate last starred in a TV series - but she looks to be making up for lost time by playing two roles in her new sitcom debuting this Friday.
In fact, in Samantha Who? on TV2, the 36-year-old actress plays two distinctly different versions of the same character - a woman who wakes from an eight-day coma with retrograde amnesia. As she tries to piece together the details of her former life, real estate agent Samantha Newly discovers that she was not a nice person and sets out to make amends.
Applegate most familiar for her role as slutty dim-bulb teen Kelly Bundy in the hit 1987-1997 sitcom Married with Children - says she loves the idea of being able to play someone who gets to start over. "Who wouldn't want to be able to start over, right the wrongs in your life?" says the now-single actress, who divorced actor Jonathan Schaech in 2006. Although her earlier TV series, Jesse, was cancelled in 2001, Applegate has had some success in films, appearing most memorably as Will Ferrell's romantic foil in the hit Anchorman: The Ron Burgundy Story. She is also a talented hoofer, receiving a 2005 Tony nomination for her year-long Broadway role in Sweet Charity.
