Perry died Monday following a massive stroke last Wednesday, according to his publicist Arnold Robinson, adding that Perry's family and friends were by his side when he passed away.
Perry leaves behind a sprawling list of credits after working steadily in show business for more than 35 years, with his most high-profile role in recent years coming as Fred Andrews on the CW's Riverdale.
Perry had completed work on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which has already wrapped up filming, according to Entertainment Weekly. In the film he plays a character named Scott Lancer, which was also the name of the a character on the late 60s CBS Western, Lancer, played by Wayne Maunder.
Other notable names in the film's ensemble cast in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino period piece, which is based on the Charles Manson murders, include Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Al Pacino, Dakota Fanning, Michael Madsen, Timothy Olyphant, Lena Dunham and Kurt Russell.
Burt Reynolds was slated to play rancher George Spahn in the film prior to his September 6, 2018 death at 82; his friend Bruce Dern took over the role.
Tarantino last year described the forthcoming motion picture as 'a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood,' with DiCaprio playing past-his-prime TV actor Rick Dalton, and Pitt as his stunt double, Cliff Booth.
"I couldn't be happier about the dynamic teaming of DiCaprio & Pitt as Rick & Cliff," Tarantino said in a statement. "Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don't recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor…Sharon Tate."
