Lamar Odom speaks out about overdosing for the first time

Basketballer and reality star Lamar Odom has revealed for the first time what it was like when he was in his coma last year.

The former husband of Khloe Kardashian, Odom rose to fame following their marriage and subsequent reality shows together. After the end of their marriage, Odom spiralled down a dark path of addiction, climaxing when he overdosed in a Las Vegas strip club, an incident that saw him placed on life support for several days.

Now, nearly a year on, Odom has spoken about the incident for the first time.

In an interview with US talk show The Doctors, Odom said: "I wasn't in a good place mentally, especially mentally, before the incident happened.

"My wife at the time, we were going through some things. I was in a dark place. So, I guess they say everything happens for a reason. So, I guess the reason is I'm here and I can tell the story."

Odom conducted the interview shortly before going into rehab, and he reveals that he only found out how close he was to death when Kardashian told him the news.

"I couldn't talk. Nothing would come out when I would open my mouth. So, I was scared."

The full interview will air once Odom has completed treatment in order to not affect his recovery.

Odom is seen as one of the victims of the 'Kardashian Curse', as many of the men involved with the Kardashians have seen their lives ruined after interacting with the family.

The 'curse' has come back into focus after the recent breakdown of Odom's former brother-in-law Kanye West.
