Kiwi movie fans will get a chance to watch controversial movie The Interview in cinemas from February 19.
The comedy depicts a fictional plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and was originally set for a January 22 release here. But last month distributor Sony put a stop to releases around the world after a large-scale cyber-attack and threats of terrorist attacks on theatres showing the film.
After a backlash the Hollywood studio announced it would screen the movie in selected independent cinemas across the United States from Christmas Day.
It also released the film, starring James Franco and Seth Rogen, in North America on several digital platforms including Google Play, YouTube Movies and Microsoft's Xbox Video.
In The Interview, Franco and Rogen play a talk show host and producer who land an interview with the Korean dictator, but are asked by the US government to assassinate him instead.
