Maeischa won judges over with her audition of Christina Aguilera's hit Beautiful and later dancing to Miss Baltimore Crabs from Hairspray.
"I love Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga and Adele but I also love my parents' singing - they are great singers," Maeischa said.
The 10-year-old has been singing and dancing "since she can remember" and sees both in her future.
"I want to work as a singer, dancer or as an actor but if I don't do that I would like to teach music or dance."
Maeischa's father Michael Fox was head of music at Glendowie College in Auckland before the family moved to Singapore 16 years ago.
The Vaetoru-Fox family live in Singapore but still have strong ties to New Zealand and come back five times a year to visit family in Auckland and Christchurch.
Fox, who now teaches at the United World College of Southeast Asia, said Maeischa's older sisters Keilah and Iosenja and his Cook Island wife Ioana were all talented singers.
"They all sing beautifully and when the camera crew for the show visited us at home we did a family song," Fox said.
Fox was amazed how relaxed his youngest daughter was with the attention. "I was a bit uncomfortable in front of the cameras but Maeischa was a natural, she was like a duck to water," Fox said.
"She was so confident I would not be surprised if her future is in television because it is an unusual strength that she has."
