Movie star Keisha Castle-Hughes says motherhood turned her into a greenie.
The busy Aucklander, who gave birth to Felicity-Amore in 2007, is adding Greenpeace ambassador to her list of commitments.
In a few weeks, the Whale Rider star will leave for the Cook Islands to spend time on the ship Esperanza as part of the Sign On campaign highlighting the effects of climate change.
She is also the public face of the World Society for the Protection of Animals' anti-whaling campaign and urged the Government to oppose any proposal to lift the whaling ban.
"Ever since becoming a mother, I have had to truly reassess my part in the world," she said in an email to supporters.
Castle-Hughes' blog about the trip can be accessed through SignOn.org and Facebook.
