Kiwi star chasing Hollywood dream, not a love life

Kimberley Crossman has put her love life on hold while she stays hitched to her Hollywood dream.

The bubbly 27-year-old Kiwi actress has been taking a shot at stand-up comedy in between pursuing roles on both sides of the camera in Los Angeles.

But her work schedule means she has no time for a Prince Charming - unless it is a real royal, Prince Harry.

"I am too busy for a relationship at the moment and I share an apartment in LA with my best friend," she told the Herald on Sunday this week. "I can't see that changing anytime soon unless Prince Harry puts out a proposal.

"I'd make a great royal but I'm still waiting for his call."

The former Shortland Street star has enrolled at acclaimed Californian comedy showbiz college The Groundlings, which has produced a host of big names including Will Ferrell and Lisa Kudrow.

She has also been hitting the stage at stand-up clubs while taking on a guest star appearance in new Disney TV comedy series Kevin from Work and preparing for her first leading role in upcoming film comedy The Sixty Yard Line.

Crossman can't wait for her Kiwi fans to see her in action on Thursday as as a beer-guzzling, burping sports groupie when Kevin from Work hits TVNZ OnDemand.

"My character Sharleen is pretty trashy and gross but thinks she is the hottest thing the planet has seen," she said. "I think New Zealand audiences will be surprised because it is not the sort of pitbull role people are used to seeing me in. There is a lot of skin showing too.

"There has been a lot of hype around the show in the States and I'm hoping to get further involved as the series develops."

Crossman splits her time between Hollywood and New Zealand and will be back home soon to film a new TV comedy series.

Next month she starts work on American football-themed flick The Sixty Yard Line in Wisconsin.

Superstar Justin Timberlake recently knocked back the role as her co-star, but she is more worried about mastering a midwestern US accent.

"That might be even more challenging than facing a live comedy club audience."
