The Black Sheep singer shared a post to her 200,000 Facebook fans last night called "Internet Bullying Defense Class 101" - a response to a hater who wrote on her page: "Just listened to you on coromandel fm. you sound like a desperate dog, give it up girl, stop embarrassing herself."
Wigmore's brilliantly sarcastic response has gone viral, with nearly 20,000 likes and more than 1300 shares.
"I was quite saddened, not by your opinion, but more so by your expectation that coming to MY page and haphazardly swinging shade in my direction would actually benefit you in some way," Wigmore wrote.
"If you're planning on continuing your unfulfilling career as an internet troll, I'd like to suggest something to you that actually would be helpful even though you were unable to oblige me with anything of the like - when effectively trying to diss someone it really minimizes the blow when you don't utilize effective vocabulary."
Wigmore promised to send the critic a signed copy of her new album when it was released.
Her response was welcomed by fellow singer Lizzy Marvelly, who said she had also faced similar types of trolling online.
"I can't speak for anyone else, but as an artist who has had to put up with this kind of s*** can I just say, preach. Thank you Gin for speaking out. Down with trolls," she wrote on Wigmore's page.
"We need more love, and less of this mindless, often faceless internet hate. Good luck with your next record you freaking talented songstress!"
Fans were also overwhelmingly positive about Wigmore's stance.
"This is one hell of a response. You killed it," wrote Ashley Norman.
"Gin, can I hire you to write comebacks for me?" wrote Wolfe Ericson.
Joshua Steele: "You used to be one of my favourite artists because of your awesome work. Now you're one of my favourite artists because of your awesome work AND because personality just as good as it."
