She told the Herald Harvey was letting down the thousands of women who listen to his show.
"I am not interested in explaining to an adult man who works in mainstream broadcasting why stating that women are inferior in a musical genre like rap is wrong. I would expect he had a mother, a wife, a sister, a female friend or a daughter who may be able to do that.
"If they're like him and want to ignore his huge, young, female audience - I'd expect his employers might want to break it down for him. From what I've seen of his social media 'opinions' they may need to speak slowly."
Natalia Sheppard, who performs as MC Tali, also expressed anger at Harvey's tweet.
"I've spent the last ten years of my life touring the world, playing sold out shows and winning awards. Guess what I do? I f****** MC/Rap/Freestyle. I would love to meet this dickhead in person," she said on Facebook.
Many others took to The Edge's Facebook page to express their anger.
Gaayathri Nair said: "So sick of Dom's misogynist, homphobic, transphobic and all around douchey comments. Please fix this. It is not edgy or cool. It hurts people and plays a part in the oppressive bullying culture that we all live in."
Harvey declined an invitation to comment on the backlash to his tweet.
However, he responded to some of his critics online, saying he was surprised to find his views were so controversial.
When bFM DJ Richie Hardcore said his tweet was sexist, he said: "let's find a cute for cancer first then hold a female rap think tank (sic)".
He later told George FM DJ Nick Dwyer not to "sweat the small stuff".
