A collective of New Zealand hip-hop stalwarts have got together to form a supergroup known as HEDLOK.
Che Fu, King Kapisi and Teremoana Rapley (a solo artist, collaborator, and former member of Upper Hutt Posse and Moana and the Moa Hunters) are the core trio of the group which also includes DJs DLT (who collaborated with Che Fu on No. 1 hit single Chains back in 1996), Manuel Bundy and the brilliantly named DJ Killamanraro.
They support New York hip-hop legend KRS One when he plays the Wellington Town Hall on April 20 and at the Cloud in Auckland on April 2.
Having already played a handful of shows, the HEDLOK set list consists of each of the three taking turns to perform their biggest songs while the other members back them up with music and vocals. So expect to hear everything from Chains and Misty Frequencies through to Reverse Resistance and Screams From the Old Plantation.
Rapley says the group, who have known each other since they were teenagers, have come full circle in the music industry.
