A brave Kiwi is trailblazing a new literary trend - women reading books in the nude.
Sophia St Villier, from Papakura, Auckland, runs the London branch of Naked Girls Reading, a female troupe stripping off and reading aloud to audiences at intimate theatre venues.
The 29-year-old told the Herald on Sunday that she was inspired to take up burlesque performing by her late gran Penny, from Waiheke Island, who had a passion for dancing.
St Villier, who moved to England six years ago, insists her popular show isn't smutty. People soon forget the performers have no clothes on, she said.
And she always feels safe as her 1.94m Kiwi husband Luke Vivian, a personal trainer, acts as minder.
