After small-screen successes in Aussie drama Secrets and Lies and American series Red Road, he has three movies on the go - and is mixing it with some of the biggest names in Hollywood.
The first of the trio is big-budget Universal blockbuster Everest, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Keira Knightley.
The film, due for a September release, tells the story of a hellish blizzard on the world's tallest mountain in May 1996, when eight people died - including Kiwi mountaineering legend Rob Hall, who wouldn't leave the side of a client he was guiding.
