Katy Perry shocks fans with unrecognisable new look

Without even changing her hair colour, Katy Perry has left her fans shocked with her new 'do.

The 34-year-old pop star posted a shot of her fresh look to Instagram with a caption written in Spanish and translated to: "What's your name?"

The image reveals longtime pixie-cut Perry sporting shoulder-length wavy locks in a warmer shade of blonde.

Her hair stylist, Chris Appleton, who also features in the photo, is behind other celebrity manes including Ariana Grande and Kim Kardashian.

Reactions from Perry's followers have been of shock with many saying the star is unrecognisable with her new look.

One disbelieving fan wrote: "Is this really Katy Perry?!? Shhook." While another commented: "OMG!!! I needed a warning about this for my soul."

Another expressed their enthusiasm for the look and questioned why she hadn't tried the style before: "Shes stunning with the long blonde hair.. like stunning.. like model.. like why why hasnt she done this before? (sic)"

Despite the outpouring of fan approval, it's suspected the look isn't permanent but rather a very convincing wig.

Just last week Perry was pictured with a short crop, filming for her role as a judge on American Idol.

And three days later she appeared on the show with longer hair, dyed candy pink.

Beyond her changing mane, Perry is preparing to marry British actor Orlando Bloom, 42, after dating on and off for the past three years.
