Katy Perry's managers have dismissed reports suggesting the singer has registered a new song titled 1984, an alleged revenge track aimed at rumoured pop rival Taylor Swift.
The Teenage Dream singer hit headlines when the track appeared on music licencing organisation BMI's registration website.
Perry is listed as an artist on the song, leading many to speculate that 1984, the year of her birth, would be a response to Swift's hit album 1989, a title which also refers to her birth year.
The gossip was further fuelled by previous rumours alleging Perry had been planning to release a "revenge" track aimed at her reported enemy, and fans speculated that 1984 could be that song.
However, a representative for Perry at Universal Music Group tells Billboard the pop star has nothing to do with 1984, saying, "Katy Perry's managers at Direct Management Group confirm that this story is completely false.
