Katy Perry is reportedly "furious" over comments made by her ex-husband Russell Brand.

The Dark Horse hitmaker is reportedly worrying her family and close pals with her "bad choice in men".

"Katy's Achilles' heel is her bad choices with men. Her friends and family are desperate for her to date someone who treats her with respect," a source told Closer magazine.

The 31-year-old singer was recently blasted by Brand, who dubbed her a "vapid, vacuous and plastic" celebrity, and she is said to be "furious" with him.

"Russell was her biggest mistake and she's furious - she thinks he's a hypocrite. She thinks he insulted her lifestyle to make the film more interesting," the insider added.

The 40-year-old comedian, who was married to Perry from 2010 to 2012, made the shocking comments in a new documentary Brand: The Second Coming, which was filmed during their marriage.

He said: "The stuff in Africa hit me really hard. I'm associated with the very thing I detest: vapid, vacuous, plastic, constructed, mindless celebrity. That's the very sea we're swimming in 'Oh, who's he? He's married to Katy Perry.'

"It's definitely good I'm with someone I love. But it's not a resolution to anything spiritual ... This is my suspicion, that at some point, to be happy, I'm going to have to walk away."
