Comedian Kathy Griffin has confirmed a story about a nasty female comedian in her book is about talk show host Ellen Degeneres.
While promoting her new book Kathy Griffin's Celebrity Run-Ins: My A-Z Index, the outspoken comedian has revealed that she and Degeneres are no longer friends, slamming her as having a "mean streak".
Griffin says that Degeneres banned her from her talk show and that she kicked her out of a backstage room at the Emmys.
"My issue with Ellen is simple," Griffin wrote. "You know, the guys in comedy are so good about sticking together. I feel sad that women don't support each other the way the guys do. Joan [Rivers] and I would talk about this all the time. Patriarchy pits us against each other."
She says that she has faith in the new generation of female comedians coming up the ranks, that they would do a better job of sticking together.
"You look at the younger women like Amy Schumer and Lena Dunham, they've got production companies, and they're getting stuff done."
