Kate Nash reveals she was 'groped' in her own home

Kate Nash is encouraging others to speak up if they have been sexually assaulted.

British singer Kate Nash has revealed she was "groped" by a strange man in her own house.

The Foundations hitmaker shared details of the sexual assault in a photo caption posted to Instagram. Nash wrote: "Two days ago I got groped in my own house by a man I don't know. I was alone and cornered in a bathroom and extremely threatened."

It is unclear how the man came to be in Nash's residence, but the singer says she wanted to speak out about the unfortunate encounter.

"I'm sharing this information with you because women are encouraged to keep quiet, not take up space and hide when they get violated. We are scared to come forward because we don't want to cause trouble or a scene. We don't want to talk about heavy s*** and make people feel uncomfortable.

I'm also teaming this statement with a photo of me looking like a total & ridiculous G shot by @abaxley because I don't like the usual imagery associated with assault, we don't have to look like a victim to be one, I actually happen to be a badass bitch from hell, this shit can happen to anyone. The photo that accompanied the post was taken by photographer Alice Baxley. In it Nash wore a blue dress with dark glasses and a bandana, a cigarette hanging off her bright red lips.

Nash explained the photo saying: "I don't like the usual imagery associated with assault, we don't have to look like a victim to be one, I actually happen to be a bad*** b**** from hell, this shit can happen to anyone."

She went on to encourage her followers who may have been in a similar situation to "speak up and don't be discouraged".
