Having first made his name as a music clip director for the likes of R.E.M., Bjork and the Beastie Boys, Spike Jonze's recruitment of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O to soundtrack his latest movie would seem to fit his scenester sensibilities.
But it sounds like O has provided an inspired touch, with a monster mash of sweetly scary indie-rock lullabies making for an album that stands alone away from the big screen rumpus.
O's bratty yelp might dominate but she has help from her bandmates as well as various Raconteurs and Deerhunters and a kids choir helping fill out her infectious Wiggles-meets-Siouxsie tunes. The best are up early on the Arcade Fire-like
