Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's tension over their extravagant home renovations could be part of the reason for the rapper's breakdown, according to new claims.

TMZ reported on Friday that the pair have sunk almost $10million into their $20million Californian estate, after Kanye kept changing his mind about how he wanted the property organised and structured.

The website claimed that this chaos resulted in 'emotional turmoil' between the pair - perhaps acting as one of the factors leading to the rapper's breakdown last week.

Putting even more strain on their relationship, it was also reported that Kim had been left disgruntled by the bill as the one funding the entire remodel process.

A source told the site that the reality star had been complaining she had to spend so much on the home improvements, during a taping of Khloe Kardashian's talk show Kocktails with Khloe back in April.

The insider adds that the pair have not yet spent the night in the pad which they bought two years ago, whilst the big-scale revamp, which saw them take over the land of the £2.9million lot next door, takes place.

The news comes just one day after claims emerged that his post-breakdown condition was much worse than first thought.

Although he was initially reported to be suffering from a temporary psychosis brought on by sleep deprivation and extreme dehydration, TMZ suggest that the rapper's problems 'go deeper'.

The 39-year-old was rushed to UCLA Medical Center after a reported breakdown on Monday and is currently being assessed with wife Kim Kardashian by his side.

The website reports Kanye is in such a 'bad mental state' that his insurance policy for his 21 cancelled U.S. concerts is likely to cover him for lost profits due to illness.

And it's looking likely that the rapper will remain in hospital over Thanksgiving.

His family had hoped that he would be able to spend the U.S. holiday at home, but TMZ said this is looking unlikely.

Kanye 'depressed, paranoid' but going home

27 Nov 03:00 AM

People reported that his wife Kim Kardashian left his bedside for the first time late on Wednesday, with a bodyguard in tow.

But the magazine claimed she was expecting to return first thing in the morning.

A source claimed the rapper is 'starting to feel more like himself, and that he understands the importance of 'resting and getting help.'

'They are taking it day by day. He understands that getting help at the hospital was necessary,' they said.

Earlier Entertainment Tonight had reported Kanye was 'doing much better' since the scare.

It was added his wife Kim was by his side tending to his needs, and had even canceled an appearance in New York City to help him out.

'[Kim] is currently with Kanye right now at his side. Kim feels more connected to Kanye than ever. Their marriage is doing great,' a source said.

According to UCLA's Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital website, the process is very involved: 'The patient will be seen by an emergency department physician who will perform a basic medical screening examination and determine whether the patient needs additional consultation from specialty services.

'If indicated, the psychiatric consultant will then be called to assess the patient. This entire process can take anywhere from minutes to hours depending on the volume and severity of cases in the emergency department.'

Kim was 'terrified' when she heard the news of her husband's breakdown.

'She was so scared when she heard the news and rushed to his side,' the source said.
'There was no question about her staying in NYC. She had to be with him last night.'

Kris Jenner said on Monday Kanye was 'exhausted' adding 'it's a gruelling tour.

Kanye, was at trainer Harley Pasternak's home on Monday when he started 'acting erratically,' according to People.

A call was made at about 1:20pm for a disturbance.

He was later escorted to UCLA Medical Center and admitted 'at will' but under the advice of a physician.

Meanwhile, Kim has been under a lot of stress too.

On October 3, she was tied, gagged and held at gunpoint at the No Address hotel apartment and robbed of her jewellery.

The mother of two was due to make her comeback to public life and her first red carpet appearance since the robbery at Denise Rich's Angel Ball on Monday evening.

She was spotted flying to the Big Apple on Monday but returned back to LA following Kanye's hospitalization.

Their children North, three, and Saint, 11 months, are currently in the care of their nannies while Kim is by Kanye's side.

Kanye recently cancelled the last 21 stops for his Saint Pablo tour.

Another contributing factor to his health incident was the time of year.

His late mother Donda West died on November 10, 2007 at the age of 58 after complications from cosmetic surgery.

A source for People revealed that 'the anniversary of his mom's death is an aspect of what's going on in that it's added emotional stress.'

Adding that: 'This time of year always brings him a lot of pain. He keeps that pain internalized, but sometimes will talk about how hard this time of year is for him.'
