Kanye West and Bradley Cooper top Time's 100 most influential list

Kanye West and Bradley Cooper have topped Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world list.

West was described as a boundary breaker and pop-culture juggernaut by entrepreneur Elon Musk, who penned an essay on the 37-year-old for the special issue.

"Kanye West would be the first person to tell you he belongs on this list," Musk wrote.

"Kanye's belief in himself and his incredible tenacity - he performed his first single with his jaw wired shut - got him to where he is today."

And West couldn't agree more, using his interview with Time to dish out grandiose statements about his power.

"Every time I say something that's extremely truthful, out loud, it literally breaks the internet," he said.

Meanwhile, Cooper was dubbed "the cinematic chameleon" for his diverse acting roles.

West and Cooper feature on two of the five covers of the annual Time 100 issue, alongside US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, ballet dancer Misty Copeland, and journalist Jorge Ramos.

Emma Watson was also singled out for the first time this year for her outspoken feminism, winning praise for her United Nations campaign on women's rights.

Kim Kardashian also made the cut, with lifestyle guru Martha Stewart praising the reality star as "the first lady of #fame," and describing her as "beautiful in an exotic, totally exaggerated way."

Other celebrities to earn a spot on the coveted roster were Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pratt, Amy Schumer, Kevin Hart and Julianne Moore.
