Justin Bieber admits to 'unhappy' tour, announces hiatus

Two years after making headlines in New Zealand for a lacklustre appearance at Mt Smart Stadium, Justin Beiber has admitted he "was unhappy" and is now taking a break to address some "deep rooted issues".

On his Purpose World Tour which saw Bieber perform in Auckland in March 2017, a Herald review said Bieber "did not seem happy" and "spent most of his Mt Smart show looking miserable and bored and like he'd literally rather be anywhere else", going so far as to say he "looked dead in his eyes".

The 25-year-old seemed to admit he did not give his fans what they deserved, when he took to Instagram on Monday to respond to fans' requests for a new album.

He wrote: "I've toured my whole teenage life, and early 20s, I realized and as you guys probably saw I was unhappy last tour and I don't deserve that and you don't deserve that, you pay money to come and have a lively energetic fun light concert and I was unable emotionally to give you that near the end of the tour."

So I read a lot of messages saying you want an album .. I’ve toured my whole teenage life, and early 20s, I realized and as you guys probably saw I was unhappy last tour and I don’t deserve that and you don’t deserve that, you pay money to come and have a lively energetic fun light concert and I was unable emotionally to give you that near the end of the tour. I have been looking, seeking, trial and error as most of us do, I am now very focused on repairing some of the deep rooted issues that I have as most of us have, so that I don’t fall apart, so that I can sustain my marriage and be the father I want to be. Music is very important to me but Nothing comes before my family and my health. I will come with a kick ass album ASAP, my swag is undeniable and my drive is indescribable his love is supernatural his grace is that reliable.... the top is where I reside period whether I make music or not the king said so. 👑 but I will come with a vengeance believe that.. However he said he was now "very focused" on "repairing some of the deep rooted issues that I have as most of us have, so that I don't fall apart".

He said his main motivation now was to be a good husband and to become "the father I want to be".

Bieber assured fans that music will always be important but "nothing comes before my family and my health".

"I will come with a kick ass album ASAP, my swag is undeniable and my drive is indescribable, his love is supernatural his grace is that reliable.... the top is where I reside period - whether I make music or not... I will come with a vengeance believe that."

This comes after Bieber asked fans to pray for him earlier this month, saying he's been "struggling a lot".

"Just feeling super disconnected and weird," he wrote on Instagram. "I always bounce back so I'm not worried just wanted to reach out and ask for your guys to pray for me.

"God is faithful and ur prayers really work thanks .. the most human season I've ever been in facing my stuff head on.(sic)"
