Dinosaur drama Jurassic World has smashed box office records by becoming the fastest film to make US$1 billion (NZ$1.45b).
The film, which stars Chris Pratt, made £19 million (NZ$43m) at the UK box office in just its first weekend.
Guinness World Records says the film, the latest instalment in the Jurassic Park saga, made a billion dollars worldwide in 13 days at 650 cinemas from June 10.
That puts its ahead of previous record holder, Fast & Furious 7, which took 17 days to make that much.
Its success is the latest milestone in what is expected to be a blockbuster year at the cinema with Fifty Shades Of Gray and Avengers: Age of Ultron already packing in audiences.
