British film actress Julie Christie, 66, has married the man she has been living with for almost 30 years, at a private ceremony in India, her family said.
Christie, best known from her Oscar-winning role in Doctor Zhivago, was recently nominated for the best actress Oscar for her portrayal of an Alzheimer's sufferer in Away From Her.
She has spent years shunning marriage, saying it did not fit with her beliefs, and has lived with journalist Duncan Campbell for 28 years. "I don't see any reason for getting married unless you're religious, which I'm not," Christie said about marriage in the past.
