LOS ANGELES - A judge has ordered celebrity heiress Paris Hilton back to jail to serve out her entire 45-day sentence for probation violation, overturning a decision by the LA Sheriff's Department to have her serve the sentence at home for medical reasons.
Hilton broke into loud sobs as she left the court.
"It's not right!" shouted the weeping Hilton. "Mom!" she called out to her mother in the audience.
AP reported Hilton, who was brought to court in handcuffs, came into the courtroom dishevelled and crying. Her hair was askew and she wore a gray fuzzy sweatshirt over slacks. She wore no makeup and she cried throughout the hearing.
Several times she turned to her parents who were seated behind her in the courtroom and mouthed the words, "I love you."
Hilton was taken away from the courtroom by sherriff's deputies after a hearing called by Los Angeles city prosecutors demanding that she be returned to jail to serve out the remainder of her sentence.
Hilton, 26, had been transferred from jail to house arrest yesterday for unspecified medical reasons after serving only three days of her 23-day sentence.
She was given a jail term after being caught driving her Bentley without a valid licence, a violation of her probation for a prior drunken-driving offence.
Yesterday's decision to let her serve the sentence at home because of a medical complaint caused national outrage and accusations of favourable treatment.
