Johnny Depp's extraordinary swipe at Barnaby Joyce

Johnny Depp has taken a catty swipe at an Australian politician following the 'Pistol and Boo' saga, saying he was worried he was about to explode.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star was asked by Jimmy Kimmel about last year's incident when Depp and wife, Amber Heard smuggled their Yorkshire terriers. Pistol and Boo, into Australia.

Asked on his thoughts about Barnaby Joyce, who led the fight to prosecute the Hollywood pair, Depp replied: "He looks somehow inbred with a tomato."

"Its not a criticism. I was a little worried. He just might explode," he said.

Heard admitted she falsified the documents to sneak their two dogs into the country when Depp was filming the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film.

The pair were made to record an apology to Australia in a short video that was meant to highlight the importance of quarantine, however their delivery made them look like hostages.

Joyce said he didn't think Depp would "get an Academy Award for his performance."

When told by Kimmel it was thought by many to be one of his finest performances, Depp said: "These are things you have to prepare a long time for to tap into the emotion that you need.

You know I haven't seen many of (my performances) but I wouldn't disagree. I played that sort of anti-government."

He revealed that he refused to watch the video back as he "didn't want to kill myself."

"You know i think that the choice they made to utilise the taxpayers' dollars to globally chase down a couple of teacup Yorkies and give them 50 hrs to live. I realised the badness of my ways," he said.
