Johnny Depp most overpaid actor this year

Johnny Depp is Hollywood's most overpaid actor of 2015, according to Forbes.

The Pirates of Caribbean star takes the mantle from Adam Sandler, after his recent films returned just $1.20 for every $1 he was paid, based on the magazine's annual list.

Depp's latest efforts in Mortdecai and Transcendence, failed to strike box office gold, putting him just ahead of Denzel Washington who ranked second.

Washington returned $6.50 for every dollar earned from his recent films.

Will Ferrell, who starred in Get Hard, ranked third, returning $6.80 for every $1 paid.

Liam Neeson, came in at fourth, finding himself with a $7.20 return for every $1 paid despite the success of Taken 3.

Will Smith followed at fifth, with his box office numbers not what they once were, averaging a return of $8.60 for every $1 paid.

The list looks at the last three films the actor starred in before June, 2015, and compares them to their earnings.
