Johnny Depp has been forced to return to America to have surgery after he was injured on location for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, according to Variety.
The actor, who is reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow for a fifth time, began filming the new Pirates film last month.
Despite earlier reports, Variety has confirmed the actor was not injured on set, however, it has not been revealed how exactly the actor did injure himself.
Production will continue without the star for the coming weeks and is not expected to delay the film's schedule, which is due for release in July 2017.
