John Travolta has spoken out to defend Scientology in the wake of a controversial documentary but admits he did not watch the film and has no intention of ever seeing it.
The movie, titled Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, aired in the US last month and made several criticisms of the church and the treatment of its members.
Around the time of the broadcast, Scientology leaders issued a statement dismissing the documentary as "dishonest", and now longterm Scientologist Travolta has spoken out to defend his beliefs.
The Pulp Fiction star, a member of the church for 40 years, admitted he has not watched the show but is adamant Scientology is not dangerous.
He tells the Tampa Bay Times, "I've been so happy with my experience in the last 40 years that I really don't have anything to say that would shed light on (a film) so decidedly negative."
